Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at SweetLittleThingsUltrasound@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Yes! Ultrasound has been used safely in obstetrics for decades. At SweetPeas Indy, we follow industry guidelines and use advanced equipment to ensure both mom and baby’s comfort.

Unfortunately, No. Elective ultrasounds are not medical and not covered by insurance. All sessions are self-pay. If you’d like, we can provide an invoice or receipt for your records, but insurance companies do not reimburse elective ultrasound services.

All babies are different. The best time depends on your baby’s development and your placenta placement:

  • Posterior placenta we recommend 29+ weeks (plenty of space + clear views).
  • Anterior placenta: 26–32 weeks (waiting a little longer helps get past the placenta).

If you’re not sure whether your placenta is anterior or posterior, ask your OB/GYN at your 20-week anatomy scan, they’ll be able to tell you.

  • Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session (hydration helps image clarity, especially if you have an anterior placenta. Being hydrated helps the placenta float)
  • Wear comfortable clothing.
  • Eat a small snack before your appointment—sometimes it helps baby move around!

Yes. SweetPeas Indy is an elective studio and not a medical facility. We do not diagnose, measure, or evaluate your pregnancy. Please continue all prenatal care and ultrasounds with your healthcare provider.

Absolutely! We encourage loved ones to share the experience. Please check with us ahead of time for seating availability, especially if you’d like to bring a larger group

Image quality depends on several factors! including but not limited to, baby’s position, amount of amniotic fluid, gestational age, and mom’s hydration. We can’t guarantee specific results, but we always do our best to capture sweet moments.

Absolutely! Many families choose to come in at different stages to see their baby’s growth and capture new memories. Each visit shows your little one in a new and exciting way, so multiple sessions are always welcome!
